Comparison of chromium with Internet Explorer 8

Google's market space with its browser "Chrome"! I was pleasantly surprised that almost immediately after the launch, a link to download Google Chrome appeared on the Google Web Search page which is my home page my default Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) browser.

Hesitant, not knowing how it will affect my desktop, I downloaded and installed on my operating system Windows Vista. He appeared as a red circle colored green and yellow icon on my desktop. Icon like the eye of a camera with a shutter for the segmented aperture adjustment which appeared as a blue dot in the center. Icon was an attractive feature showy seemed completely different than the blue 'E' of Internet Explorer. He looked like an eye to see the world through the Internet, which is what it is supposed to be. Bravo for Google to mark the first time.

I clicked on the icon Chrome. She opened. Automatically imported my favorite sites in it. I saw some links on the toolbar below the address window. There was a folder named 'Other Bookmarks' at the end of the toolbar. I clicked on it and a menu open to show the rest of Favorites. After careful consideration, I found that only sites of my folder "Links" appeared on the toolbar, not the sites that have been outside the folder "Links" in my Favorites menu. It took me a few minutes to organize the sites visited on the toolbar and drag Other sites in the "Other favorites" folder. But it also happened to me when I upgraded my IE7 to IE8. The index of bookmarks important on the horizontal toolbar is a different feature of the sidebar vertical IE7. But IE7 has too much to upgrade this feature on its IE8 and it is now identical to Chrome.

I expected the Chrome to have Google toolbar integrated but he was absent. The Google toolbar has Iconic links to Google Earth, Google Mail and News, and a small search box. I used to his presence on the top. I decided to download and install it. The Chrome browser and Google Toolbar are both Google products and I never imagined that there was no Google Toolbar available for Chrome! But this was so. When I clicked on the download button, it opened a site showing requirement of Firefox2 and there was no option for Chrome. I am sure that sooner or later, Google will make this possible. But now, the IE8 scores higher than Chrome with Google Toolbar!

The IE7 had delivered with my Vista for a long time I linked to Vista. I like the function of the opening of new tags with the IE7 which was missing with IE6. I still my old computer with Windows XP which had IE6. I am sure that many users are not yet knowing they can install the IE7 and IE8 now Windows XP and have the advantage of the tag feature of Vista without the need for their computer! Getting back to Chrome, the function of tag is just above the address bar and not below as in IE8. I think the positioning Chrome saves a few mm of space that is used in making tools bar slightly wider than IE7.

The IE8 has a button to load stop showing the red cross icon at the end of the address bar. I could not find it on Chrome. But it seems that a black cross just for a split second while loading the page that disappeared once the page was charged. The stop-icon still present in IE8 is redundant after the page has been loaded. Chrome scores! But he lost on the flap down to the sites recently visited, which opens by clicking the little down arrow in IE8. There is no such drop down menu in Chrome, but if you open a new tab in Chrome, thumbnails of recently visited sites appear on the screen. This feature has its own merit, but I like the drop down address bar of IE8.

My Gmail account opened flawlessly in Chrome and I looked at my box reception. My daughter sent me a photo in JPEG files attached. I clicked on the download link and to my surprise usual window for 'open', 'save' or 'Cancel' does not appear. Nothing seemed to have occurred. But some something stirred in the lower left corner of the screen. The browser has been downloaded file. It was incredibly fast and the file 2 MB was done in seconds! I clicked the shutter as it finished downloading and the image open in a new window. There had no option to save it! It took me a while to see that Chrome had opened a new folder "Downloads" folder in My Documents and saved the downloads in it! For a quick reference to all downloads, there is a link in the menu under the icon Key in the address bar. Chrome automatically saves the downloads so that IE8 offers options to "Open" or "Cancel" without to save the file to download. I discovered later that Chrome offers a change in the destination of the upload through options in the settings (wrench) menu.

The page "and" links "Tools" in Internet Explorer are replaced by iconic images Page and key respectively in Chrome. However, the contents are not the same! There are many common features mostly the same as earlier versions IE. There is no point on dwelling on them. The new functionality in both browsers is the ability to stealth browsing without leaving a trace. In Chrome, this is called "Incognito Window" in the menu page of Chrome, and "InPrivate Browsing" in the menu 'security' of IE8. This feature is an absolute must for Chrome because its history is much more comprehensive search terms to display the time and date of navigation of each site. It also displays the search tags and terms of the webpage has been visited! The Incognito feature can save the user Chrome very embarrassing moments. The IE8 has no detailed history, just the day and sites, I must admit that IE8 is lagging behind Chrome on this account.

I did not find the ease of using Chrome Off-line, as in IE8. The installation of IE8 of sending the page or link by e-mail address is absent on Chrome. The windows of the links and facilities like blog with Windows Live, e-mail with Windows Mail, Windows Live translate, edit OSM with Front Page, and the Windows Update link are missing on Chrome.

IE8 offers the possibility to use the keyboard to select parts text or images for copying instead of using the mouse. By empowering "Carot navigation" under the Tools menu in IE8. This feature Chrome is not. The IE8 offers a feature "Suggested Sites". Here the IE8 has stolen on March 1 Chrome, despite the fact that Google has the ability unparalleled research and remove websites linked to the current site.

The Chrome browser does not have a page zoom feature in the bottom right as The IE8. This expands the whole page and not just the text. But the basic text zooming with Ctrl + + + / Ctrl – feature in Chrome is as effective the menu text size feature click of a mouse "option in IE8.

In conclusion, the two new browsers IE8 and Chrome are all fully capable of navigating effectively. Is Chrome is faster? The IE8 is a very fast browser. It is hardly even wait one second for it load. But Chrome seems to be faster! Chrome has a latent charm and magnetic quality that drew me often to click on Chrome icon in preference to IE8 icon on my desktop. I think it's the hypnotic magic of Google. But the number of features, I find that the IE8 definitely scores on Chrome.
I searched the computer's dictionary for the word 'Chrome' and that's what I found:

Chromium: n. [From automotive slang via wargaming] Showy features added to attract users, but does little or nothing to the power of a system. "The 3D icons in Motif are just chrome, but they are certainly chromium _pretty_!" Ladies and Gentlemen bells and whistles by the fact that the latter are usually added to satisfy the desires developers themselves to featurefulness. Often used as a term of contempt.

Does it describe the Chrome browser? It is up to you to decide!
